James Robey

Global Head of Environmental Sustainability, Capgemini

James has led the Capgemini Group sustainability agenda since setting first carbon reduction targets in 2008. He is a long-term advocate of ambitious targets as a mechanism to drive innovation to ensure continual improvements.

He drives the global program to reduce environmental impacts in our most material areas, setting strategy and managing the complex programme of education and engagement across our 40 countries.

However, recognising the biggest impact we can make on this agenda is through the services and products we deliver for clients, he is also responsible for our external programme to ensure we leverage our capabilities in technology and innovation to support clients in delivering their sustainability goals.

During his 21-year career at Capgemini, James has held a number of roles, primarily in business development and programme management. He has also led the roll out of a UK Leadership Development Academy. He continues this interest in his current role by rotating a wide range of employees from across the business through the sustainability programme.

James brings an academic flavour to his work, holding a degree in Economics and Mathematics, a Master’s degree in Development Economics, and an M.B.A. He recently completed his doctorate with Henley Business School investigating the drivers and outcomes of corporate sustainability. Increasingly James is being asked to present at both academic and industry conferences and regularly comments in the media.
